FLORIDA SPORTS LEAGUES GENERAL RULES

  • ID’s/Licenses will be needed for check ins EVERY GAME (temporary protocol to make sure teams are accurate) 
  • Physical ID preferred but a clear photo is ok
  • NO ID, NO PLAY
  • Captains, due to having a free play we expect to you to be responsible of the following:
  • Captains, please make sure that you players are accounted for correctly with their sign up process. We will help but getting them properly added is your responsibility.
  • If they are not properly added, THEY CANNOT PLAY UNTIL THEY ARE REGISTERED AND PAID
  • Please Make sure that your team has jerseys with numbers on the back
  • Please make sure your players remain respectful of the refs and other players
  • Make sure that you and your team pick up your trash
  • Do your best to have matching jerseys with numbers
  • Have your team help move goals when needed, first game move nets to position and last game moves nets back
  • General Rules
  • Fighting will not be tolerated, do your best to de-escalate. You will be. Banned for the season
  • No smoking or vaping at the field
  • No consuming alcohol at the field
  • No pets at the field (we know they are family)
  • No cursing at the fields
  • Players must be the correct age for the respective divisions:
  • For Traditional FLSports Friday 11v11 Coed, Girls must be 18 and Guys must be 25
  • 18+ for: Coed 8v8/11v11, Men’s 8v8/11v11, Open 8v8 and other sports
  • 19+ for: Women’s Competitive & Women’s Recreation 8v8
  • But please check the division you are registering for as these age requirements do change depending on the want of the division
  • Must Wear Shin Guards!
  • When the ball goes out, it is reset with throw ins
  • A bad throw will result in a turnover
  • Field Marshals are considered the 4th official in both Small field (7v7 & 8v8) & in 11v11 and are there to monitor quality of life 
  • If a ref misses and or makes a bad call, the field marshal cannot overturn the call, also the admin will NEVER reverse any type of card given
  • Please do your best to remember at the end of the day that we are playing for fun, no matter if it is the first match of the season or the finals
  • Both referee and field marshall will make reports and notes of severe incidents that may require review
  • Players and Captains can make their concerns known by emailing info@flsports.com
  • Refrain from making derogatory comments to and about both referee and field marshals
  • Do not make physical contact with the officials
  • Touch, poke, push, etc


  • Small field rules! (7v7 or 8v8)
  • Each Season we will consider whether or not we will be doing 7v7 or 8v8
  • 6 field players and 1 keeper or 7 field players and 1 keeper
  • The field size provided is the leading factor
  • If need be, we will ask all captains of that season what they would prefer
  • Substitutions are on the fly, do not sub with the intention to intercept a counter attack!
  • No offsides 
  • No Slide Tackles. If a player makes a Slide Tackle, the player is awarded a DIRECT Free Kick and a yellow card is given to the player in question.  
  • Yellow carded players must sub out till next natural stoppage of play 
  • Sliding to save a goal/out of bounds etc. is ok as long as no contact or near contact with another player.(However, Goalkeeper's inside their penalty area are allowed to slide tackle) 
  • Slide tackling in the box is a PK
  • Yellow Cards! If you get a yellow card, you must come out for 2 mins
  • Red Cards! All red cards you must sit out a minimum of one game, if a red card is deemed a serious offense then it will be reviewed by the disciplinary committee and the player and captain will be notified. If it is just a double yellow or a minor red the player will sit out one game
  • 28 minute halves with 4 minute half time, time is made up from shaving half time 
  • Unless otherwise stated, game time starts ON TIME (4 players must be there, after 10 min the is subjected to be forfeited and a scrimmage can be played)
  • There will be no stoppage time added, please play with integrity
  • Opposing players must be 8 yards from the ball on free kicks 
  • Kicks are direct or indirect per FIFA 11 v 11 rules 
  • Goal keepers may not punt nor drop kick the ball but may set it on the ground to kick away. 
  • If there is a punt, the opposing team is awarded an indirect free kick from the halfway line. 
  • PKs are taken 8 yards from the goal line at the center of the goal (if the net is larger, the distance will be recalculated
  • All red cards per FIFA 


  • 11v11 Rules!
  • Please Check in with the Field Marshal before the match
  • If you are late to the match, please make sure to check in with the Field Marshal
  • Standard FIFA Rules! (Slide Tackling, check in at halfway line before substitution and AR must know, Offsides, etc.)
  • You must alert the AR before subbing in
  • Captains please do your best to have matching uniforms for your teams
  • Minimum amount of players needed is 7 players (To start the match or to continue a match that is happening)
  • Match play times are intended to be 45 min halves but are subject to change due to field space, the amount of teams playing in the current division and other potential factors


  • Field Dimensions!
  • 8v8 field dimensions ranges from 70-80 yards long by 45-55 yards wide
  • 11v11 soccer field dimensions ranges 100 and 130 yards in length and 50 to 100 yards in width
